Luigi And Daisy – Who Is Princess Daisy?

playing gamecube on wii

Princess Daisy first appeared in the Gameboy game Super Mario Land. She was kidnapped by a mysterious alien named Tatanga and of course Mario has to come to the rescue. No appearances are made by Luigi, Bowser, or Princess Peach in Super Mario Land. Mario ventures through the world and eventually rescues Princess Daisy from Tatanga.

But how did Luigi and Daisy meet. She appeared as Luigi’s caddy in the Original Nintendo game Nes Open Tournament Golf in 1991. Then the next appearance made by Princess Daisy was in 1999 in Mario Tennis for Nintendo 64. Then she started appearing in the Mario Party series. All of this didn’t hint to anything between Luigi and Daisy though. The only thing that ever hinted at something between Luigi and Daisy was in Super Smash Brothers Melee for Gamecube in the Princess Daisy Trophy.

"The princess of Sarasa-land. Daisy met Mario when he helped defeat the evil alien Tatanga in Super Mario Land. Princess Daisy is a bit of a tomboy when compared with her counterpart, Princess Peach. After her appearance in Mario Golf, some gossips started portraying her as Luigi’s answer to Mario’s Peach." – Princess Daisy’s trophy, Super Smash Bros. Melee

So this leads to believe that there will be more to come in future Nintendo titles. Including Mario Party, Mario Kart, Super Smash Brothers, and possibly future Paper Mario games. Nintendo has made it very clear that there is something between Luigi and Princess Daisy. It might be a build up into a future Luigi title featuring Daisy as the the princess in distress.
